Perchta
A downloadable game for Windows
This game is made for CompanionWulf's Xmas 2024 Game Jam and is made using Smile Game Builder.
THE STORY
Katheline thought she could outsmart Perchta, the Yuletide witch who punishes the idle, by crafting a decoy to escape her judgment. But Perchta saw through the trick, and now Katheline must flee through the dark, haunted woods, where unbaptized souls linger and the shadows close in. Can she outrun her fate, or will her folly lead her to ruin?
ABOUT THE GAME
Perchta is a dice-based interactive narrative. You can beat this game in less than 15 minutes.
CREDITS
Music, story, illustrations and additional 3D models by me. Software used: Garageband, Procreate, Asset Forge and Smile Game Builder.
FUTURE UPDATES/FIXES:
- Evading will be implemented correctly. While it doesn’t break the game, evading is now a separate action instead of a reaction.
- Krampus will be able to summon a minion.
- Volume levels will be corrected.
- A puzzle will be added to the maze.

I really enjoyed this game. The story hooked me in instantly. I really enjoyed how quickly your characters came to life. Each one felt so unique and lived in. Truly an amazing accomplishment for such a quick game.
Hopefully as you play more with the engine's combat system you have developed can expand as well. It seemed a bit too straightforward where the best option was to deal damage or with the boss, Magic to do more damage. I am sure the art took most of your time, so I would be excited to see a sequel or expansion that implements the time loop element that was hinted at in the game.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
Due to bad time management on my part, a lot of story and battle elements were cut to submit a presentable and bug-free game before the deadline. I’m really glad you still enjoyed the story and characters—they were a big focus for me.
You’re absolutely right about the combat system. It’s quite straightforward right now, but I’m already planning improvements to make it more engaging and strategic. The time loop element you mentioned is definitely something I’d love to explore further in a sequel or expansion.
Thanks again for playing and sharing your feedback—it really means a lot!
